Handcrafted apothecary
for grief & heart-opening
The ritual
Place 2–4 drops under the tongue or onto the pulse points — often most helpful in the evening, when the day's armor starts to loosen.
Traditionally taken up to 4 times per day. Repetition deepens the ritual; there's no risk.
Pair with a hand on the heart, a few slow breaths, or whatever gentleness you can offer yourself.
What's inside
Traditionally used to support heart-centered emotional healing, grief processing, and the slow softening that follows loss. Rose has been the classic emotional-healing ally across herbal traditions for thousands of years.*
Grown in our Umpire medicine garden.
Bach-method preservation. Brandy gives the essence shelf-stable potency for years; mountain water carries the energetic imprint of the flower. The clinical standard for high-grade flower essences.
Spring-fed mountain water from the Ouachita foothills.

Gentle heart opening and self-compassion support
Pure, heart-centered medicine
Will this help with grief?
Yes, profoundly. Rose is one of the primary essences for grief work. It doesn't make the grief go away—grief needs to be felt and honored. But it helps soften the hardness that forms around grief, the ways we protect ourselves from feeling too much. Rose supports you in staying open-hearted even through loss, allowing grief to move through you rather than getting stuck.
I'm not an emotional person. Will this make me cry all the time?
No. Flower essences don't force emotions—they support emotional balance. If you've shut down emotionally as protection, Rose helps you gradually feel safe opening up. You might find yourself more able to connect with feelings, but it's gentle and at your own pace. Most people describe it as softening, not overwhelming.
How is this different from rose essential oil?
Completely different. Rose essential oil is a physical extract used aromatically or topically for its scent and physical properties. Heartful Essence is an energetic preparation taken internally that works on emotional and spiritual levels. Essential oil affects your physical senses; flower essence works on your energetic heart center and emotional patterns.
Can I take this with Tranquility Essence?
Absolutely. They complement each other beautifully. Tranquility supports calm while Heartful opens the heart. Many people use Tranquility for daily calm support and add Heartful when working through emotional healing or relationship wounds. There are no interactions—you can take them together or separately.
How long until I notice results?
Timeline varies widely. Some people notice subtle shifts within days—a softer inner voice, less reactivity to triggers, more patience with themselves. For deeper heart healing (grief, betrayal, long-held emotional patterns), give it 2-4 weeks of consistent use. The changes are often more obvious in hindsight when you look back and realize how much has shifted.

From the herbalist
“Heartful is the essence I've given to more grieving clients than any other remedy in my apothecary. Rose has been the plant of the heart in every tradition I've studied. She doesn't rush grief, doesn't try to talk you out of it — she just sits beside you while the heart does its long work.”

Taking this alongside my meditations helps me soften my heart to allow tenderness where I might otherwise feel guarding. This helps me process my emotions openly instead of feeling blocked. Very grateful for this gentle essence 🌹
This rose flower essence meets me right where I am — even in moments of fragility, when I feel untouchable or heavy with emotion I can’t quite express. There’s a subtle softening that doesn’t force anything, but gently reminds me that tenderness is safe. It doesn’t make the pain vanish, but it creates space around it — like a quiet presence that says, “You don’t have to hold it all alone.” A few drops bring a sense of grounding, a little more room to breathe. Perfect for those needing emotional support, heart chakra nourishment, or simply a loving companion during hard-to-name grief.
